Handshake® Demonstrations

Handshake®  was originally developed to enable a merchant transaction to be done safely without the need for any special hardware or bank apparatus. Over time is has been extended to enable card processing to be done via the internet and through a mobile application. At the core of the system is the ability for the transaction to occur without the need for access to the internet. This concept allows Handshake® to be used in remote area or on mobile devices with only basic connectivity or limited operations.

Aside from a live transaction taking place through the standard SSL or secure web page our added level of protection for the client is provided through obscurity. In simple terms our system NEVER takes a clients credit card details. The client provides one part of their card details into two separate transactions on two completely independent devices and most times via at least two discrete mediums. The second part of the transaction can only occur from the device identified in the first part of the transaction. In our basic demonstration the payment is initiated from the web browser and responded to via SMS off the clients mobile phone. The information is collected into two detached systems on independent and geographically distributed hosts.

This page provides you access to a series of demonstrations which should give you an idea of the power of the system.

Simple Payment

This demo will not deduct any money from your credit card. It is for demonstration purposes only.

Demonstration One

Demonstration 1 - Is the simplest demonstration. It uses a simple web forms interface to collect the basic information required for a transaction to occur.

The information necessary is;
  •  a description,
  • amount,
  • the first 6 digits of the clients credit card and
  • the clients mobile phone number.

On submission the transaction is initiated via the Handshake® WebAPI and a payment request is sent to the customers mobile phone.
The client is given some details of the request for payment and an example of how to respond. The response format of the SMS contains the remainder of the credit card number, expiry date, cvv and name on card. eg. "0012345678 0216 430 Mr J Citizen".

Demonstration Two

The Café module. This extension was developed to fill a hole in the market where retailers, due to extra costs processing multiple credit card discourage splitting the bill. Our concept involved providing a simple interface where the merchant can define a fee (or not) to add to the bill each time another card is added as a payment method. This was further extended to provide the inclusion of a transaction surcharge and a simple calculator for the customers to use while splitting the bill.

These options allow the customer the choice of whether they use one or more credit cards to pay their bill.

Café Module Demonstration

The Cafe module is designed to give the power back to the consumer.
Not only does the guest have the security of never handing over their credit card, they have the flexibility of being able to control how they pay.

For example:
Apart from the details about what was consumed the invoice at right has a few pieces of information relevant to the transaction and these come straight off the docket.

  • Table number 8
  • Receipt number 317
  • Amount owing $68.45

The procedure for a Handshake empowered restaurant is to enter those key pieces of information into the transaction screen.
From there the system will format a payment screen with your logo and allow the customer to complete the transaction with any combination of cash or one or more credit cards. The screen even provides a handy calculator.

The power is handed back to the consumer and if they choose to split the bill a token $1 (adjustable) per split is applied to the account, this is to cover the additional merchant fees which may occur.

Once the transaction(s) is successful, the screen updates with the approval details and the customer is free to leave.

Behind the scenes Handshake sends you the full details of the transaction including authorisation numbers.

On the right is a working demonstration.
